Germany and Chile: A Bond Based on Shared Values

In the framework of commemorating 36 years of German Reunification and 110 years of history of the Chilean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Chile), Chile and Germany reaffirm a strategic alliance rooted in fundamental principles: the defense of democracy, the rule of law, human rights, free trade, and multilateralism.

As Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Pérez Mackenna points out, the relationship between both nations is reflected not only in commercial exchange—which reached historical record highs of USD 4,791.8 million in 2025—but also in close technological, scientific, and renewable energy cooperation (such as lithium and green hydrogen).

This is a summary based on the special edition «Germany» of El Mercurio, published in commemoration of German Unity Day and the 110th anniversary of the Chilean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry – AHK Chile.
