The FNE establishes transparency as a competitive standard for marketplaces.

The final FNE report on e-commerce raises transparency to a matter of competition. The concern is not limited to prices or market share: it reaches the way platforms inform, modify, and apply rules to sellers who use their ecosystems.

Large marketplaces simultaneously fulfill several roles: intermediaries, showcases, data administrators, and sometimes competitors of those who sell on the same platform. That combination makes any change in ranking, commissions, access to information, or account suspension sensitive, because it can alter the ability of third parties to compete.

The next step will depend on how companies and authorities react. Although the report is not equivalent to a sanction or a current regulation, it offers a roadmap for future investigations, contractual adjustments, and regulatory discussions regarding digital platforms.
